Single Family Dwelling
Two Bedrooms ~ One Bathroom
Approx. 1291 sq. ft. + Full Basement
Built: 1948 - 1949
The M-house is one story tall with basement. Interior floors are hardwood oak with linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. This home is a quaint cottage style and is perfect for the couple or small family. It does, however, feature a larger kitchen, making it perfect for the food enthusiast.
This M-house and the other Tri-Cities letter houses were designed by Spokane Albin Pherson who was hired by the US Government. In less than 90 days, he planned the entire community of Richland. Construction of the streets began on March 20, 1943 with the first house being completed (a B-house) on April 28, 1943.
Mr. Pherson opted to apply the ranch house design--pioneered by the great American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright--to promote clean, symmetrical lines and standardized design that was uncomplicated and efficient. The ranch-style homes first made their appearance in the 1920s and their easy yet sturdy construction appealed to developers and contractors alike. The ranch home quickly gained popularity, leading to a boom in the building of these homes from the 1940s through the 1970s. These designs in the Tri-Cities areas, as you'll see, still continue to be viable to today's real estate market because they were built to withstand the time element.
The M-house was built only a few years after construction crews broke ground on Richland. To find out if an M-house model is an available home for sale in Richland, contact Encore Realty for more information.
